Born in Geneva, the Russian guitarist Ekaterina Záytseva is regarded as one of the most talented players of her generation. Now at home in Barcelona, her masterful interpretations of the guitar have been received by audiences with universal acclaim.
Ekaterina Záytseva trained as a guitarist and pianist in Moscow, Barcelona and The Hague, where she obtained her Master of Music. She has taken part in many of the leading international guitar festivals and won prizes at numerous competitions. Moreover, she also has an intensive programme of chamber music concerts. Her catalogue of recordings includes three CDs (Carnaval, Íntimo and Danzas Españolas) which feature important works from the guitar repertoire. She is currently participating in the festival Maestros de la Guitarra Española, both as a soloist and as part of the Barcelona 4 guitars VERSUS project.
She has performed at such prestigious concert halls as the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Rachmaninov Hall in Moscow, the Philharmonie in St. Petersburg, the Auditorio in Castellón and the Radio Concert Hall in Warsaw.
According to critics, “Záytseva surprises with wonderful, stylistic diversity and her broad-ranging technical mastery of the guitar”, and possesses "great technical skill with an excellent mastery of harmonics”.
